TOR & VPN Connectivity Issues

Below are the common issues and troubleshooting steps for TOR and VPN connectivity. If you still any issue please contact us at contact@torwebbrowser.com for personalized support.

TOR Connection Not Working

If you’re unable to connect to the TOR network, consider the following:

  1. Proxy Restrictions:
Networks like those in hotels, schools, or public Wi-Fi often use proxy settings that can block TOR connections. If you’re facing issues, check with the network administrator or try switching to a different connection that doesn’t restrict TOR usage.

  2. No Other TOR Apps:
Running multiple TOR browser apps in the background can cause conflicts. Ensure that all other TOR-related apps are closed before using the TOR Browser.

  3. Bridge Configuration:
If you’re facing connection issues, open the Bridge Configuration on the connection screen and select the “No Bridges” option. This ensures TOR operates without additional configuration.

  4. Change ISP:
Some internet service providers (ISPs) block TOR connections entirely. If you still can’t connect, try switching to a different network or ISP that supports TOR.

  5. No VPN Connected:
Running a VPN while using TOR can create conflicts and block TOR connections. Disable any active VPN to ensure TOR works properly.

  6. Restart TOR Browser:
Sometimes, issues can be resolved by restarting the app. Close the TOR Browser completely from the background and relaunch it for a fresh start.

  7. Stable Internet Connection:
TOR requires a stable and active internet connection to work. Check your device’s connection and ensure it’s not dropping or experiencing interruptions.

VPN Not Connecting

  1. Stable Internet:
A stable and active internet connection is essential for VPNs to function correctly. Ensure your Wi-Fi or mobile data is turned on and not experiencing interruptions. If needed, try reconnecting to the network or restarting your router.

  2. Update TOR Browser :
Using an outdated version of the app may cause connection problems. Check the app store for updates and install the latest version to ensure compatibility and improved performance.

  3. Restart TOR Browser:
Sometimes, restarting the app can resolve temporary glitches. Close the app completely from the background and relaunch it to refresh its connection settings and performance.

Server Not Connecting or Not Available

If you’re facing issues with server connectivity, here’s what to consider:

  1. Server Selection Limitations:
The ability to choose from different available servers is exclusive to premium users. Free users will be automatically assigned the most suitable server based on availability.

  2. Region-Specific Restrictions:
Some servers may not be available in your country due to regional restrictions.

  3. Change Internet Service Provider (ISP):
If the server remains unavailable, try switching your internet service provider (ISP) and reconnecting to the VPN. Restrictions in certain regions or by some ISPs may block access to specific servers.

Pages Not Loading or Websites Not Working

If pages are not loading or websites are slow, try the following solutions:

  1. Slow Browsing on Onion Links:
Some onion links may load very slowly due to network relay routing. Try again later, as it could be a website-specific issue.

  2. Browsing on Non-Onion Links:
If browsing non-onion links, make sure the “No Bridges” configuration is selected. You can also try changing bridges to find one that works best for your region.

  3. No Browsing at All:
Incorrect bridge configuration may be the issue. Try:
    • Changing the bridges configuration.
    • Renewing your TOR connection from the TOR panel screen.
